Are people sinners or mistaken?
People err and sin, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "All of humanity are sinners, and the best of sinners are those who repent," and "If you did not sin, Allah would do away with you and bring people who would sin, then seek Allah's forgiveness, and He would forgive them." However, this should not be taken as a justification for disobedience. Rather, what is required of the sinner is repentance and righteous deeds, as Allah the Almighty said: (Turn to Allah with sincere repentance) and (Seek forgiveness from your Lord, then turn to Him in repentance), and His saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Fear Allah wherever you may be, and follow up an evil deed with a good one, it will efface it." Allah warned us against despairing of His mercy, saying: (And do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of the mercy of Allah except the disbelieving people) and (Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins).
