Is a girl’s marriage to someone she accepts and her family accepts, but her parents reject because he is a foreigner and from outside the country, considered invalid? And is that considered disobedience to parents?

If the young man mentioned is of good character and religious commitment, the guardian has no right to refuse his marriage to the girl simply because he is from another country. If the guardian refuses to marry her off without a legitimate Shar'i reason, she may refer the matter to a judge, so that he may marry her off or order her next closest guardian to do so.

If the father permits her brother to marry her off, then her marriage is valid, and she is not considered disobedient to her parents if her father marries her off due to her insistence.

As for marrying herself off, she is not allowed to do so, as the guardian is a condition for the validity of the marriage.

If the girl sees it as an act of honoring her parents to forgo marrying him, then perhaps Allah will facilitate something better for her, especially since marriage to someone from another country may involve certain risks if he wishes to move her to his country. However, she or her guardian may stipulate that he not move her.
