What is the ruling on a host saying to his guest: "Blessings have visited us"?

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked about the ruling on saying: "Barakah has visited us" upon the arrival of a visitor. He replied that if what is intended is the spiritual barakah due to the visitor's knowledge and merit, then it is permissible. However, if what is intended is physical barakah, then it is forbidden. In another context, he clarified that the common saying: "You have blessed us" is not intended to mean what is meant for Allah Almighty, but rather it means that some blessing has been attained from the visitor's arrival, and it is permissible to attribute barakah to a human being.
