What should we do when the fate of a person committed to his religion and persistent in congregational prayers in our country is imprisonment and torture?

Whoever is unable to practice the rituals of his religion or manifest them in a country, emigration becomes obligatory upon him if he is able and finds a place where he feels safe. If he is unable to emigrate, then he must persevere in his religion and perform acts of worship secretly if he fears harm. It is permissible for him to forgo some outward manifestations of religion if displaying them would result in great harm, such as imprisonment or beating, like the beard and continuous attendance at the mosque for prayers. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There will come a time upon the people when holding onto one's religion will be like holding onto a burning coal," meaning that steadfastness in religion at that time will require extreme patience.
