What is the authenticity of the reward for the specific supplication for the fifth day of Ramadan: "O Allah, on this day, make me among those who seek Your forgiveness, and make me among Your righteous servants, and make me among Your pious loyalists, by Your compassion, O Most Generous of the generous," and is it true that the reward for this supplication is that "whoever recites it will be given in the Paradise of Abode a million platters, in each platter a thousand kinds of food"?

Supplication (Du'a) is an act of worship based on divine command and adherence [to tradition], not innovation. It is not permissible for anyone to institute a specific supplication at a particular time for which there is no religious precedent, because that would be an innovation. Prophetic supplications and remembrances are the best for a Muslim to seek, and anything else may be forbidden or disliked.

The aforementioned supplication for thirty days of Ramadan (definition) has no basis, and the alleged virtue that accompanies it ("Whoever supplicates with it will be given in the Garden of Refuge a thousand thousand bowls, in each bowl a thousand colors of food") is false and reprehensible speech. It is a lie against Allah and His Messenger.

What is recommended in Ramadan is frequent supplication with legitimate supplications or whatever one wishes of the good of this world and the hereafter, without believing in their specific Sunnah (definition) status. One must beware of lying about Allah and His Messenger and of publications that promote innovations.
