What is the ruling on dyeing hair black for a man over sixty in the four schools of thought?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on dyeing hair black, oscillating between it being disliked (makrooh) and forbidden (haraam). The preponderant and authoritative opinion (rajih) is that it is forbidden, especially for the elderly. It is reported that Al-Zuhri said: "We used to dye [our hair] black when the face was fresh. But when the face and teeth became aged, we abandoned it."
