How can I honor my parents when I obey their commands and am kind to them, yet they are displeased with me and prefer their nephews over me?

If a son fulfills his father's rights to the best of his ability, then his father's displeasure does not harm him, for the aim is the pleasure of Allah Almighty. Filial piety includes addressing them with courtesy, gentleness, and humility, using noble speech, and showing humility towards them in words and deeds. He must provide for them and serve them, endure their annoyance, fulfill their needs, not disobey their commands except in disobedience [to Allah], and supplicate for them.
