To what extent is the work of a wife permissible in beautifying women—such as cutting and dyeing hair, and removing hair with thread and wax from the body (only what is apparent, like the hands and legs up to the knees)—in her home?

There is no harm in a wife practicing the profession of beautifying women if she adheres to the Shariah controls, which are: that the beautification should not be something forbidden by Shariah (such as plucking eyebrows, hair extensions, and tattooing), that it should not involve imitating disbelievers or immoral women, that she should do this for women who do not display their beauty openly, and that it should not result in her seeing the 'awrah (intimate parts) of the woman she is beautifying.
