What is the ruling on holding fashion shows and competitions in Muslim countries, and the ruling on women participating in them and following them while imitating the models in their swaying, adornment, and wearing clothes that violate Islamic law, and are the clothes of fashion models considered a "thawb shuhrah" (garment of fame/ostentation)?

Fashion shows and their accompanying competitions are not permissible if they do not adhere to Sharia guidelines, as they involve cooperation in sin and aggression, and the spread of evil. However, if they are disciplined, competitions for a prize are not permissible. Furthermore, it is not permissible to follow undisciplined shows due to the viewing of evil and being captivated by the models. Women are advised to focus on what benefits them in their religion and worldly life. As for the garment of fame (thawb ash-shuhrah), it is what is worn to draw attention to its wearer. Merely being expensive does not make it a garment of fame unless it involves extravagance.
