Are the actions of this man, who appears to be religious but whose dealings contradict religion, correct from the perspective of Islamic law, or are they a deviation from the norm that harms the image of religious people and Islam?

Leniency in buying and selling is desirable in Islamic law, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "May Allah have mercy on a man who is lenient when he sells, lenient when he buys, and lenient when he demands his due." It is permissible for a merchant to sell his goods at a profit and buy at a low price, based on the hadith of Urwa, who narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gave him a dinar to buy a sheep for him. So, he bought two sheep, sold one for a dinar, and returned to the Prophet with a dinar and a sheep. The Prophet then supplicated for blessings upon him. However, encroaching upon the rights of nephews is forbidden, for Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, those who devour the property of orphans unjustly are only devouring into their bellies fire. And they will be burned in a blazing Fire." Chewing gum is permissible for both youth and elders.
