Does the week begin on Friday, as stated in the noble Hadith: "This is their day concerning which they differed, and Allah guided us to it (he said: Friday). So, today is for us, tomorrow for the Jews, and the day after tomorrow for the Christians," or on Saturday? And does the word "first ones" in the Hadith refer to the reckoning on the Day of Judgment or to the beginning of the week?

The beginning of the week is a matter of disagreement among scholars. Some consider it to be Saturday, citing the hadith, "Allah Almighty created the dust on Saturday." Others consider it to be Sunday. The aforementioned hadith does not discuss the beginning or end of the week; rather, it speaks about the virtue of Friday and the virtue of this nation, and what Allah has bestowed upon it in terms of guidance and the favor of precedence on the Day of Judgment. The meaning of "We are the last, yet we are the foremost on the Day of Resurrection" is that we are the last in time and existence, yet we are foremost in virtue and in entering Paradise before all other nations. An example of this is the delay in the prophethood of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his precedence on the Day of Judgment through intercession.
