Are the pyramids the edifice mentioned in the Qur'an?

The Qur'an mentions the edifice (al-sarh) in two places, both concerning Pharaoh and his command to Haman to build it so that he might ascend to the God of Moses. This was after Pharaoh presumed that the kingdom of Moses's God was in the heavens.

Pharaoh wanted to appear to his people as one who was searching for the truth to prove to them Moses's falsehood after investigation.

"Haman" is either a name or a title for Pharaoh's minister.

His saying: (فَأَوْقِدْ لِي يَاهَامَانُ عَلَى الطِّينِ) [So kindle for me, O Haman, (a fire) upon the clay] is an idiom meaning that he commanded Haman to prepare bricks (clay bricks) for construction. Pharaoh began with this command to indicate the care given to the building from its very beginning.

Pharaoh, in his corrupt thinking, presumed that he could reach the heavens with this edifice.

Finally, no one has mentioned that the edifice is one of the pyramids. Rather, some exegetes, such as Ibn Ashour, may Allah have mercy on him, denied this, because the pyramids were built of stone, not clay bricks, and because they were tombs, not edifices.

The exegetes differed as to whether the edifice was built and completed or not.

In summary, the pyramids are not the edifice mentioned in the Qur'an.
