What is meant by the phrase "Do not wish to meet the enemy... for if they bring up a clamor and noise, then you must remain silent" in the Hadith?

Do not wish to meet the enemy, and ask Allah for well-being. If you meet them, then be steadfast and remember Allah frequently. If they make a commotion and yell, then you must remain silent. The origin of this hadith is in the Two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim) with the wording: "Do not wish to meet the enemy, and ask Allah for well-being. If you meet them, then be patient." The prohibition of wishing to meet the enemy is due to the self-admiration it entails and a violation of caution, for they might be granted victory as a form of enticement. Meeting the enemy is one of the hardest things for the soul. Wishing for martyrdom does not necessitate wishing to meet (the enemy). From this, the prohibition of seeking out single combat (dueling) is derived.
