It is mentioned that fighting is inherently disliked by souls due to the hardship involved, but it is pure good because of the reward and victory that result from it. It is clarified that victory comes from Allah, not from numerical superiority, and that the retreat of the Companions at Hunayn was due to the shock of the surprise and the enemy's ambush, not out of cowardice. Natural fear or feeling cowardly does not signify hypocrisy, unless the Muslim rejects Allah's command, for it is obligatory to be content and submit to Him, while striving to strengthen faith and seek Allah's help to attain courage.
