What are Islamic names?

It is established that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, loved good names and disliked ugly ones. He clarified that the most beloved names to Allah are "Abdullah" and "Abdul Rahman", and the most truthful are "Harith" and "Hammām", while the ugliest are "Harb" and "Murrah". He forbade naming with "Malik al-Amlak" (King of Kings) because it is the most demeaning and ugliest of names. He also used to change names that implied self-praise or condoned disobedience to good names, such as changing "ʿĀṣiyah" (disobedient) to "Jamīlah" (beautiful), "Barrah" (pious) to "Juwayrīyah", and "Harb" (war) to "Salm" (peace).
