What should be done if the husband threatens divorce and wishes to marry another, while stipulating that she live with his family, especially given that the wife is aware of his betrayal and desires to preserve her family?

Divorce should not be the sole solution for marital problems due to its harmful effects on children; rather, patience and reconciliation should be pursued. The wife has the right to an independent home, but if the husband cannot provide it, it is advisable for her to compromise and move to his family's home with patience. A husband marrying a second wife is permissible in Islamic law, and the wife has no right to object, though she can request justice. One must beware of anger and repent from accusing the husband of betrayal without proof.
