Do the mother's repeated, unfulfilled oaths regarding her children count as idle oaths (laghw al-yameen), and what are the implications thereof?
It is disliked to swear excessively by Allah Almighty, for Allah Almighty says: "And do not obey every frequent swearer [of oaths], a worthless one."
If the mother utters oaths habitually without intending to swear, then no expiation is due from her. This is the more preponderant opinion, for Allah Almighty says: "Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for what your hearts have earned." The intended oath is the one that the heart has earned. However, if she did intend the oath, then expiation is binding upon her for the oaths she broke.
