Does loving a person more than God necessitate eternal damnation in Hellfire and the non-acceptance of prayers? And if the love of God is not strong and the feeling of loving a person more prevails, does that necessitate eternal damnation in Hellfire? And does repentance necessitate ritual bathing (ghusl) and the declaration of faith (shahada), especially if fear, awe, and modesty are directed more towards other than God, and a lack of reliance (tawakkul) necessitates ritual bathing?

Whoever loves something other than Allah as much as he loves Allah is a polytheist, because the love of Allah must be greater than the love of anything else. So, if someone's love for something other than Allah becomes equal to his love for Allah Almighty, he is a polytheist. If a Muslim falls into this, he becomes an apostate. For whoever loves someone more than Allah has taken him as an equal to Allah. True faith requires that Allah and His Messenger be more beloved to the believer than anything else. This is indicated by the words of Allah Almighty: (And among the people are those who take equals to Allah besides Him. They love them as they should love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah.) And the Hadith (definition) of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "By Him in whose hand is my soul, none of you will believe until I am more beloved to him than his child, his father, and all people." And the Hadith of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him: "No, O Umar, until I am more beloved to you than your own self." And His saying, Exalted is He: (Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your spouses, your kindred, the wealth you have gained, the commerce in which you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command.") And the love of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, is from the love of Allah. Love for Allah necessitates prioritizing what He loves, even if it goes against one's desires, hating what Allah hates, befriending those who befriend Allah and His Messenger, and following His guidance. If apostasy is established, the apostate must utter the two testimonies of faith and perform ritual ablution (ghusl (definition)) as an obligation to return to Islam. However, a Muslim is not judged to be a disbeliever unless there is definitive proof, and the conditions for deeming someone a disbeliever are met, and the impediments to such a judgment are absent. One should be wary of obsessive thoughts regarding these matters.
