How sound is the circulating story about Jesus (peace be upon him) resurrecting a deceased mother, with the mother then reproaching them, saying: "Indeed, I saw a home better than my home, so I died as a believer, and what do I know that I might die as a disbeliever and then see that bliss?"

The noble verse (and I bring the dead to life by Allah's leave) states that Jesus' bringing the dead to life was by Allah's leave and his supplication. Allah sent each prophet with a miracle suited to the people of his time. Moses' miracle was sorcery, Jesus' miracle was bringing the dead to life in the era of physicians, and Muhammad's miracle was the Quran in the era of eloquent speakers. No Marfu' hadith (a hadith directly attributed to the Prophet) has been reported mentioning Jesus bringing the dead to life, but there are stories mentioned by scholars, often from the Isra'iliyyat (Judeo-Christian traditions) which we neither affirm nor deny, such as the bringing to life of Lazarus, the son of the old woman, the daughter of the tenth, and Sam son of Noah, and the story of the woman whose daughter Jesus brought to life twice.
