What is the ruling on traveling away from a sick grandmother after ensuring she has the necessary care? And what is the ruling on traveling to safe Arab and Islamic countries? And is travel considered pursuing worldly temptations if the intention behind it is to make one's parents happy and avoid bothering them due to not attending a graduation ceremony?
There is no harm in traveling and leaving the grandmother in the company of her parents, provided that someone is left to serve her and her well-being is assured. Traveling to bring joy to parents is considered an act of obedience and filial piety. As for travel in general, there is no harm in permissible travel and recreation, as long as it does not involve anything that displeases Allah Almighty. Among the etiquettes of travel are: redressing wrongs, settling debts, choosing a righteous companion, performing the الاستخارة (prayer for guidance), not walking alone, traveling much at night, not neglecting remembrances (), and taking with him whatever is beneficial to him. He should also provide for this world and the Hereafter. Provision for this world does not contradict reliance on Allah (), and provision for the Hereafter is knowledge, in addition to knowing the rulings of travel such as shortening prayers (qasr), combining prayers (jam‘), dry ablution (), and wiping over the leather socks (khuffayn), as well as knowing the and prayer times.
