What is the ruling on an unintentional error by a pharmacist in dispensing medication that led to the deterioration of a patient's condition?

The medical profession is very important and is considered a collective obligation (fard kifayah). It is not permissible for someone who is not proficient in it to practice it. Whoever practices it without proficiency is sinful and liable for the consequences of their mistake, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever practices medicine without having been known to be a physician before, is liable."

However, if the physician or pharmacist is knowledgeable in their profession but made a mistake in dispensing medication, there is no sin upon them, based on the hadith: "Indeed, Allah has overlooked for my Ummah their mistakes and forgetfulness." Nevertheless, they are liable for any damage resulting from the medication. The mere worsening of a patient's condition due to medication is not considered blameworthy unless it leads to death or the damage of an organ.
