Is it permissible for my friend to complete the Dhuhr prayer after the Imam has concluded, and then perform the Asr prayer individually, if he entered the mosque while the Imam was praying Asr by way of جمع تقديم (combining two prayers at the time of the earlier one), and he (my friend) had intended to pray Dhuhr?
What your friend did is sufficient, for when two prayers are combined, it is permissible for the worshipper to perform one of them in congregation and the other individually.
