What should one do who has covenanted with Allah to spend his life and wealth for the sake of Al-Aqsa, but then feels he has broken his covenant when he neglects his studies or efforts and wastes his time on matters that do not serve his goals?

The Shariah urges fulfilling covenants, especially with Allah concerning religious matters. This is based on His (the Almighty’s) saying: "And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have made a covenant, and do not break oaths after their confirmation," and His saying: "And fulfill the covenant; indeed, the covenant will be questioned about." The Shariah also condemns those who reneged on what they covenanted with Allah. We have previously clarified that whoever covenants to perform an act of devotion or obedience, that is considered a vow and an oath, and it must be fulfilled. This is achieved by employing physical and material resources, to the best of one's ability, in the cause of Al-Aqsa.
