Do sexual thoughts—reaching the point of imagining touching a man's genitals—invalidate a woman's fast? And does she owe a make-up fast or expiation because of them, especially if she suffers from obsessive-compulsive thoughts and doubts regarding the validity and obligation of fasting?

These thoughts and whispers come from Satan to turn you away from religion and make worship difficult for you. Islam is the true religion that Allah has approved, and it is the religion of all prophets, while contemporary Christianity has been distorted. If the whispers are mere fleeting thoughts that are repelled and disliked, they do not affect one's religion. However, if they become firmly rooted and turn into doubt, then they lead one out of religion. Sexual fantasies do not affect the validity of fasting, and your fasting is valid; no expiation is required. Ghusl (ritual bathing) is not required merely based on doubt about seminal discharge, and repeated daily ghusl is a satanic whisper. We advise you to fear Allah, not to indulge in these whispers, strive to repel them by engaging in beneficial activities, and seek refuge with Allah from Satan. Allah Almighty said: {And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing. Indeed, those who fear Allah – when an impulse from Satan touches them, they remember [Him] and then at once they have insight}. Moreover, frequent supplication to Allah to remove these whispers from you and strengthen your faith is the best aid.
