Is religion a departure from science, or in agreement with it?
The true religion from Allah does not contradict established scientific facts or sound intellect, because Allah is the Creator of the universe and knows its secrets, as He states: "Say, [O Muhammad], 'It was sent down by He who knows the secret [thought] in the heavens and the earth.'" Abdul Majeed al-Zindani says, "There can be no contradiction between a definitive revelation and a definitive empirical scientific fact." And Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah clarified in his book, "Darʾ Taʿāruḍ al-ʿAql wa al-Naql" (Averting the Conflict Between Reason and Revelation), that there can be no contradiction between sound textual evidence and clear reason. As for a corrupted religion, it can indeed contradict scientific facts and matters of reason.
