What is the ruling on one who claims that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, if he were present, would have commanded us to adopt the upbringing and ethics of foreigners for our children, and is it permissible to attribute this statement to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, left his Ummah on a clear and illuminated path. Allah perfected His religion for him and completed His favor upon him, so His religion does not require further perfection. Among the aspects of religion that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, perfected was the upbringing of children. He enjoined their upbringing on every beautiful quality and keeping them away from every reprehensible one, teaching them the Oneness of Allah, the tenets of the religion, and noble morals, without the need for imported guidance. The foundation of Islamic upbringing is found in Luqman's advice to his son, and scholars have written extensively on its principles. The mentioned statement is objectionable, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against following the ways of the West, and whatever good they possessed, he brought something more perfect than it. The problem of Muslims lies in their shortcoming in knowing the correct Islamic methods of upbringing, the foundations of which were laid by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
