What is the ruling on keeping Pharaonic statues for decoration in an office or home, and is it permissible to exchange them as gifts?

It is not permissible to keep animate statues for decoration or other purposes, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me and said: 'I came to you last night, and nothing prevented me from entering except that there were statues at the door and a curtain with images in the house...'" And based on his saying to Ali: "Do not leave an elevated grave without leveling it, nor an image without obliterating it." These hadiths indicate a general prohibition against acquiring statues, without being restricted by loving or glorifying them.
