Is it obligatory for a child born to Muslim parents to pronounce the Two Testimonies (Shahadatayn) upon reaching puberty, and what about a child born to a Muslim father and a non-Muslim mother if he does not pray and his father does not compel him to pray, when he is ten years old?

The child born to Muslim parents, or to one Muslim parent, is judged to be Muslim. When a Muslim child reaches puberty, they are not required to renew their declaration of faith (Shahadatayn), unless they do something that indicates their dissatisfaction with Islam. Parents must command their children to pray starting from the age of seven and strike them for it at the age of ten. Abandoning prayer before puberty does not expel a child from Islam because they are not yet held accountable for it.
