The answer

We have previously clarified the ruling on sighing (or expressing annoyance). As for it bringing poverty and scarcity of sustenance, this is a superstition. What will happen in the future, whether poverty or other matters, falls under the unseen, which one is not permitted to predict. A Muslim must believe that matters of the unseen cannot be determined by opinion nor established by (independent reasoning). Whatever is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, concerning them is to be accepted wholeheartedly, and whatever is not, is not to be taken into account. Allah Almighty says: "And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you from, abstain from it" (Al-Hashr: 7).
