Is the blood money for a severe wound (al-ja'ifah) to be calculated as one-third of the full blood money, regardless of whether it damages internal organs or not, even though the texts have made it uniform and the damage may be equivalent to a full blood money?

The one-third of the blood money (diyya) obligatory for a penetrative wound (ja’ifah) applies to the wound itself. Any subsequent injuries or defects to internal organs or fractured ribs will have their own specific compensation (arsh). If the penetrative wound goes from one side to another, then each penetrative wound incurs one-third of the blood money. If a penetrative abdominal wound perforates the intestines, or lacerates the liver or spleen, or if a penetrative flank wound fractures a rib, then in addition to the blood money, there is a just discretionary compensation (hukoomat 'adl). The estimation is not valid until after healing and the wound has closed. The ramification of an injury is guaranteed without dispute among scholars, because it is an effect of the injury, and the injury is guaranteed, so likewise are its effects.
