Is it permissible to give to a poor and needy brother from Zakat money?

The state of a person, whether poor or needy and deserving of zakat, can be ascertained in several ways: by personally knowing their condition, by being informed by trustworthy individuals, or by the needy person himself informing about his own state, provided his outward appearance does not contradict his claim. If his poverty and need are confirmed by one of these methods, then it is permissible to give him from zakat; otherwise, it is not permissible.
