How many are the obligatory and impossible attributes of Allah, and for whom is it (considered) a contravention of Allah the Almighty by (ascribing to Him) an attribute that contradicts His pre-existence to creation before He created creation?

A Muslim must believe in all attributes of perfection that Allah has affirmed for Himself or that His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, has affirmed for Him, and absolve Him of all attributes of imperfection that He has absolved Himself of or that His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, has absolved Him of, while contemplating the Quran and Sunnah. As for specifying a number of attributes, that is the methodology of the theologians (Ahl al-Kalam). The servant must believe that nothing resembles Allah, as Allah the Almighty says: "There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing."
