Is making up missed prayers given precedence over performing the regular Sunnah prayers?

If a Muslim misses a prayer until its time expires without a valid excuse, it is not prescribed for him to make it up, nor will it be accepted from him, due to Allah’s saying: (Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a time-bound ordinance) [An-Nisa/103], and due to the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: (Whoever performs an action which is not in accordance with our matter, it will be rejected). His repentance should consist of regretting it, maintaining prayers, and resolving never to abandon them again. The more he increases in voluntary prayers (regular and other supererogatory prayers), the better, as they complete what was deficient in the obligatory prayer.
