Is it permissible to renew the marriage contract with a wife during her pregnancy if the previous relationship with her was doubtful? Is the statement of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Uthaymeen regarding the permissibility of renewing the contract with her during her iddah and pregnancy authentically attributed to them? And does Ibn Taymiyyah's statement about the obligation of waiting for a menstrual cycle (istibra’) apply to both the one who had intercourse and others?

If you divorced your wife in jest, believing that divorce does not occur in such a case, there are two scenarios:

1. If this was not the third divorce, and you had sexual intercourse with her during her iddah (definition) (waiting period), this intercourse is considered a raj'ah (revocation of divorce) and you do not need to renew the marriage contract.

2. If raj'ah did not occur and the iddah ended, she has become irrevocably separated from you, and your sexual intercourse with her thereafter is considered wat' shubhah (intercourse under a misconception). If she is pregnant by you and you wish to renew the contract, it is permissible according to some scholars, especially if the child's lineage is attributed to you.
