Is a shoe purified if it is wiped with dust? And is there a hadith about this?

The bottom of the shoe, if it has been defiled by impurity, is purified by rubbing it with earth, based on the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If any of you steps on filth with his sandals, then earth is a purifier for them."
