Is it obligatory to wash the hands after touching perfumes containing alcohol, which are widespread, or is this overlooked due to widespread affliction?

Scholars differed on the ruling concerning alcoholic perfumes due to two matters: firstly, the disagreement on the impurity of intoxicants (khamr (definition)), and secondly, the disagreement on pardoning a small amount of impurity. The Shafi'is and Malikis held the view of pardoning a small amount of impurity that is difficult to avoid, such as a drop of urine or khamr, and an amount of blood and pus equivalent to a dirham (coin) according to Baghli. The Hanafis held the view of pardoning an amount of a dirham or less of grave impurity like blood, urine, and khamr, and a light impurity as long as it does not reach a quarter of the garment. As for the Hanbalis, they did not pardon a small amount of impurity.

Accordingly, it is not obligatory to wash the hand when shaking hands with someone who has used this perfume, and this is considered among the small amounts that are pardoned, especially given the difference of opinion regarding the impurity of khamr added to perfume. However, washing would be more absolving for one's conscience, as a precautionary measure.
