How can children be encouraged to pray so that they perform it spontaneously, without compulsion?
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded us to instruct our children to pray at the age of seven and to discipline them for it at the age of ten, as stated in the Hadith: "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and beat them for it when they are ten, and separate them in their beds." Allah Almighty says: "And enjoin prayer upon your family and be steadfast in observing it."
Encouraging children to pray can be done by taking them to mosques, encouraging them to pray at home, providing programs for teaching ablution and prayer, and offering them rewards and incentives. A child loves to go out, so taking him to congregational prayers accustoms him to it and instills a love for prayer in him, while also teaching him calmness and tranquility during it.
A believer should frequently make the supplication: "Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and our offspring comfort to our eyes and make us leaders for the righteous."
