The Hadith, "For one of you to be stabbed in the head with an iron needle is better for him than to touch a woman he is not permitted to touch," was authenticated by Al-Albani. This Hadith indicates the prohibition of touching a non-mahram woman, whether with desire or without. This is supported by evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah. Just as looking at a non-mahram woman is forbidden, even without desire, touching her is even more deserving of prohibition. 'A'isha supported this by stating that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, never touched the hand of any woman during the pledge of allegiance. The jurists of the four madhahib have unanimously agreed on the prohibition of touching a non-mahram woman, even if desire is absent, due to the lack of necessity.
