What is the authenticity of the hadith: "A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my wife does not prevent the hand of one who touches.' He said: 'Divorce her.' He said: 'I fear my soul will follow her.' He said: 'Then enjoy her'"? And does the Prophet command one to enjoy a woman who does not prevent the hand of another man?

The scholars differed regarding the meaning of the hadith "no hand touches her but is not repelled" (لا ترد يد لامس), which was narrated by Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i. An-Nasa'i and Imam Ahmad considered it not to be authentic. One group holds that the meaning is promiscuity, and that she does not refuse someone who seeks indecency from her. Another group holds that the meaning is extravagance, and that she does not prevent anyone who asks her for something from her husband's wealth. Some have suggested that the meaning is that the woman has easygoing manners, without aversion or modesty towards strangers, not that she commits indecency. The most probable opinion is that the intended meaning is that she has easygoing manners, and is not promiscuous or extravagant.
