Is a person afflicted by tribulation rewarded even if they do not bear it patiently, or is the reward limited to those who are patient?

Patience in the face of tribulation and calamities is a reason for multiplying rewards and expiating sins. Calamities are certainly atonements, whether accompanied by contentment or not. However, if they are accompanied by contentment, the expiation is greater. And if the afflicted person has committed no sin, he is compensated with a reward commensurate with his suffering.
