What are the Sunan of fasting?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Sunnah of Fasting: If a fasting person is cursed, they should say: "Indeed, I am fasting," to repel evil with good. Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) is a blessing, and it is sunnah to delay it. It is sunnah to hasten Iftar (breaking the fast). It is sunnah to break the fast with fresh dates (rutab); if not available, then dried dates (tamr); if not available, then water. It is sunnah, upon breaking the fast, to say "Bismillah" (in the name of Allah) and "ذهب الظمأ وابتلت العروق وثبت الأجر إن شاء الله" (The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills).

Virtue of the Fasting Person's Supplication: The supplication of a fasting person is answered and not rejected. Allah frees people from the Hellfire at every Iftar in Ramadan. Every Muslim has an answered supplication every day and night of Ramadan.
