Is the Sunnah of the 'Isha Prayer confirmed, and is it prayed before or after the فرض (Fard obligatory prayer)?

The two confirmed rak'ahs (units of prayer) of the 'Isha' (night) prayer are performed after the obligatory 'Isha' prayer. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to consistently perform them, as 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them, said: "I memorized from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ten rak'ahs: ... and two rak'ahs after 'Isha' in his house..." It is recommended to be consistent in performing them, following the example of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and to obtain the reward.
