Can black magic cause a person to develop cancer or suffer a heart attack?

"Black magic" is a modern term used by sorcerers to describe magic that harms the bewitched in their mind, body, or heart. They claim it is the magic of the Pharaohs, taken from the "Book of Black Magic." Sorcerers also promote "white magic," which they claim is beneficial, to deceive people. However, the truth is that all magic is harmful, and there is no benefit in it, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: (and they learn that which harms them and does not benefit them).

Magic has a reality and an effect, by Allah's permission. It may affect the bewitched by causing a chronic illness or preventing procreation. Muslims in Medina were bewitched to prevent procreation. Infertility may be due to divine decree or a satanic act by sorcerers preventing procreation. This is treated with ruqyah, seeking refuge [with Allah], frequent remembrance of Allah, and recitation of the Quran.

Magic can lead to the death of the bewitched. Jurists have stated that a sorcerer is killed as retribution if they kill with their magic, and the majority view that killing by magic can be intentional and warrants retribution. The act of magic is forbidden and one of the greatest major sins. The sorcerer is considered a disbeliever by the majority of scholars, and their prescribed punishment is death. A Muslim must protect themselves from magic by reciting the Quran, maintaining lawful remembrances, and eating seven Ajwa dates.
