What is the ruling on searching for ancient artifacts and collecting remnants such as stones and the like?

A Muslim should not waste their time and money collecting ancient relics such as stones. Rather, it is better to utilize time in obedience to Allah and money in what benefits them in this world and the hereafter. Collecting them becomes forbidden if it leads to neglecting duties or committing unlawful acts like extravagance and squandering, as the Quran and Sunnah prohibit such actions. Likewise, collecting them for boasting, veneration, or seeking blessings from them is also forbidden.
