What should the spouses do in light of their parents' rejection of their religious commitment (niqab for the wife and growing a beard for the husband), and the father's threat to cut off the husband's source of income?

Filial piety is among the most obligatory acts of obedience, but there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. Shaving the beard is an act of disobedience. Covering a woman's face is obligatory when there is fear of temptation, and it is a matter of scholarly disagreement when temptation is absent. Children should not yield to parental pressures that lead to disobedience. If the husband cannot find a job to support himself and his wife, he is permitted to shave his beard under the principle that necessities permit the prohibited, and then he should grow it back when he becomes self-sufficient.
