Is it true that the cause of the general death that occurred in the camp of Moses (peace be upon him), in which seventy thousand died, was due to the spread of fornication? If it is true, please elaborate.

Verse (175) of Surah Al-A'raf speaks of a person named "Balaam" whom Allah had given His signs, but he detached himself from them. Balaam's prayers were answered, and when Moses wanted to enter the land where Balaam resided, his people asked him to curse Moses and his people. Balaam initially refused because Allah had forbidden him from doing so. However, after he was given a gift and they repeated their request, Allah did not explicitly forbid him, so he thought that meant approval. Thus, he cursed them, but his tongue cursed his own people and prayed for Moses' victory. When his people asked him about this, he told them that he could not do otherwise, and he guided them to a means of defeating the Children of Israel, which was to entice them into fornication. So they did that, and Allah afflicted them with a plague, causing seventy thousand of them to die.
