What is the Islamic legal ruling on a mother rejecting a suitor despite her daughter's attachment to him, and the mother's condition that the engagement be sought from the divorced father and that the daughter leave the home?

A woman's engagement should be handled by her guardian, who must assess the suitor's character and compatibility. Parents should not reject a compatible suitor who possesses good character and religious commitment.

If the engagement proceeds, try to convince your mother to approve of your marriage to him through prayer and supplication to Allah, and by seeking the help of respected individuals who hold influence with her.

If the mother refuses, her obedience takes precedence over marrying this man, unless there is a stronger overriding benefit to doing so. May Allah grant you someone better than him.

If the mother stipulates leaving the home, she does not have the right to do so unless the house is her property.
