What is the ruling on taking medicinal capsules that contain gelatin of unknown origin, where it is not known whether the animal from which the gelatin was taken was slaughtered according to Islamic rites or not?

If the mentioned substance is taken from a permissible animal after its ritual slaughter (tazkiyah), then it is permissible. If it is known that its origin is from a dead animal (maytah) or from an animal forbidden to eat, and it has been processed and transformed into another substance, then the predominant view is that it becomes pure and its use is permissible. However, if it has not been processed or transformed into another substance, it remains impure, and its use is forbidden. If its origin is unknown, the apparent ruling is the permissibility of its use due to widespread affliction (umum al-balwa) and the unknown origin, and because the basic principle regarding things is permissibility.
