How can we understand the declaration of takfir by the Salaf against those who asserted the createdness of the Qur’an, or hesitated concerning it, or did not declare takfir against those who hesitated concerning it, along with the belief that the Qur’an is the actual Word of Allah, and that Allah has ever been speaking and speaks whenever He wills? And how is it that the Qur’an is not an attribute of Allah, given that it results from the attribute of speech, and is not the attribute itself?

The assertion that the Qur’an is created stems from the negation of the attribute of speech for Allah Almighty, based on the claim that speech necessitates corporeality and resemblance to created beings due to the presence of sounds and letters within it. This is disbelief (kufr) because it contradicts the texts, impugns Allah Almighty’s perfection, and negates divine laws. Whoever says this either makes every speech in existence the speech of Allah, or makes Him, Exalted be He, not a speaker of anything at all, thus attributing imperfection to Him and likening Him to inanimate objects.
