What is the ruling on taking off the left shoe but not the right one while driving during travel for comfort?

What is prohibited is walking with a single sandal, as narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "None of you should walk in a single sandal; rather, he should wear both of them, or take both of them off."

Scholars differed regarding the ruling on standing in a single sandal to repair the other; some permitted it, while others prohibited it.

The correct view is that it is recommended for someone who has taken off one of his sandals for some reason to also take off the other, because this embodies justice and avoids putting strain on the other foot.

Some scholars held that this prohibition includes all paired garments, such as walking with a single slipper, or having one hand out of the sleeve, or wearing a cloak over one shoulder, or applying kohl to one eye, or women dyeing one hand or one foot.
